Korean apartments are advertised in pyeong even though the unit was removed from official use in 2007, and listings mix two areas that differ by roughly a quarter. Supply area (공급면적) includes a share of common corridors and lobbies; exclusive area (전용면적) counts only the interior of the dwelling. A home marketed as 32 pyeong is commonly registered at 84 m² exclusive.
The Japanese tsubo shares the identical definition, so a pyeong and a tsubo are the same area — a legacy of the common measurement standard imposed during the colonial period.
