Overview
Celsius and Fahrenheit are related by F = C × 9/5 + 32, the multiplication accounting for the different degree size and the addition for the different zero point. A Celsius degree is 1.8 Fahrenheit degrees because the interval between the freezing and boiling points of water is divided into 100 parts on one scale and 180 on the other.

About
The two scales cross at −40, the single temperature where both read the same number. Kelvin shares the Celsius degree size but places zero at absolute zero, so K = C + 273.15, and Kelvin values carry no degree sign because the scale is absolute rather than relative.
Temperature differences convert differently from temperatures: a rise of 10 °C is a rise of 18 °F, not 50 °F, because the offset applies to points on the scale and not to intervals. Confusing the two is the most common error in converting climate and engineering data.
